After seeing fairies one evening while living in New York I realized that, at least as they appeared to me, they didn’t look like little physical beings. They were there but not there, with glowing eyes that were unearthly. Years later, when I moved back to Kentucky and began to paint, the memory still haunted me. I so wanted to bring into the physical that ethereal energy, not only to paint the fairy worlds, but angels too. It seemed that an angel might appear in a similar way.
